The Tiki War was shot over four overnights at the now-closed Red Dragon in Minneapolis, MN. I was originally hired as the boom operator, but after the second day of production I took over as the sound mixer.
This marks a lot of firsts in my career. It was the first time I was on a film set. It was the first time I had ever held a boom pole. It was the first time I was able to pay my rent with money I made doing sound.
Synopsis
Three competing nightclub owners and two luckless entertainers battle over honor, territory, heroin and Cuba’s most potent rum in a tiki bar in 1961 Chicago.
